Cuba's Solution

I consider that the U.N. should help Cuba's citezens by providing them help to have a change in their goverment.I think this would be the best way to help the Cuban people. The reason why is beacuse the main problem in Cuba with the human rights comes from the goverment. I know that changing their goverment will not be easy , but it is for the best.

By changing their government the U.N will no just help the Cuban people but all those hard working Human right agents that have been captured and severely punished by the unfair government  of Castro. Not only will those people be free but those who are in prison because of the right reasons will at least receive better medical care and better living conditions. The Cuban people would be free, they would be able to go out of Cuba freely. They can also express themselves freely without being punished by the government.

I belief that the U.N will have to also provide military support. The reason is that the current government will not go down or accept to leave willingly. The military would have to take out the government by force. I belief the Cuban people have the right to be treated equally has stated in the human right article of the U.N. To do these they need a drastic change in government , but to do this they will need the support of the U.N.

This is the solution that I provide for the poor people in Cuba that have their rights violated everyday. We should all be realistic , if the time we life in is so advance why should some people be treated in such a barbaric way. Also if we have a people that can provide a solution to these problem , why do they not help? In conclusion the Cuban people could really use the U.N. help , they are human beings just has any of us and for that reason alone they should not be treated as animals, even thought they disagree with some  of their countries beliefs or government ideals.

Cuba's Human Right's

Cuba's communist government controls all aspects of life. The government in prison people for their peaceful political beliefs . Their is a unknown number of political prisoners, because the government does not show such information and keeps its prisons off-limits to human rights organizations.A local human rights organization have counted that more than 200 political prisoners currently detained in Cuba. Also their are about 5,000 people sentenced for dangerousness. The human rights in Cuba is so unfair because the Cuban government denies the people the right to change their own government. Some of the right's being violated are beatings and abuse of  prisoners, including human rights activists, harsh and life-threatening prison conditions, including denial of medical care.Beatings, and threats against political opponents by government-recruited mobs, police, and State Security officials, arrest and detention of human rights members of independent professional organizations.Denial of fair trial, and interference with privacy, including  monitoring of private communications. There were also severe limitations on freedom of speech and press, denial of peaceful assembly and association, restrictions on freedom of movement; restrictions on freedom of religion; and refusal to recognize domestic human rights groups or permit them to function legally. Discrimination against persons of African descent, domestic violence, underage prostitution, trafficking in persons, and severe restrictions on worker rights, including the right to form independent unions, were also problems.

People should care about how the Cuban government violet's most of the human rights. Do you think it is fair that the Cuban people cannot choose their government? Or the fact that they can not choose what religion they want to be part off. They can not express their feelings or thought of the government without being punished. That is something we take for granted, the fact that we can express our feelings about anything we want without being punished for it.Do you think is fair that some private Human right organization workers , that go to Cuba to try to help the Cuban people are arrested and punished brutally without any reason? To think that you can not even talk on the phone without the government knowing what you are talking about.  That are only some of the rights the Cuban have been violated of.

Cuba's History

Columbus arrived in Cuba on 1492 ,and many of the Indians that inhabeted the isalnd died from dieses braod from Spain with the sailors. The Spanish settler established the raising of cattle, sugarcane, and tobacco this was Cuba's main economy. As the Indians died of diseases and of working in the fields , Africans started to be imported as slaves to work on the fields. Slavery was later abolished in 1886.

With the help of Jose Marti Cuba got it's independency and is the last major Spanish colony to do so. On 1898 a USS maine sank in the Havan harpor , the origin of the explosion is still unknown. On December of the same year Spain relinquished it's possesion of Cuba to the United Sates with the treaty of Paris.
The treaty of Paris states that Spain will give the United States control over Puerto Rico and Cuba , and the U.S. will pay Spain 20 million dollars. On  May 20, 1902 , the United States gave Cuba it's independence.

Cuba has a nonindependent was often ruled by military leaders who got or stayed in power by force. Fulgencio Batista, an army sergeant, organized a  officer revolt in September 1933. He was elected president in 1940. He was thrown out of the office in 1944 .He ran for president again in 1952, seized power  before the election was to take place, he suspended the voting , and began ruling.

On July 26, 1953, Fidel Castro, led a failed attack on the Moncada army barracks. He defended himself in trail and was sent to prison. He was later freed and left in  exile to Mexico. There he planned the "26th of July Movement" with the goal to overthrow Batista. They sailed to Cuba from Mexico and landed on the island on December 1956.

Batista was faced with a corrupt and inefficient  military plus the  U.S. Government had a  embargo on weapons sales to Cuba.He was also hated by many people, this helped Castro. He fled on January 1, 1959 but  he promised to return .Castro used his control of the military to have complete control of Cuba. He did this by eliminating any thread he had. An estimated 3,200 people were executed. He declared Cuba a socialist state on April 16, 1961.

Cuba's Unique Qualities

Cuba's' culture is unique because it is diverse and is affected by several factors such as  :

As stated before Cuba's culture is influenced greatly by other culture or people. Meaning that their music and dance are also influenced. Today, popular Cuban music and dance styles include salsa, son, rumba, mambo, and cha-cha-cha.The instruments used include the claves, maracas, guiro, thumb piano (like the African mbira), and cowbell, as well as various drums, including bongos and a large conga. Some European-style instruments may also be used. In Cuban music, a special rhythm played on the claves (called the clave rhythm) sets the tempo and maintains it.

Cubans dress very informal , one of  the main reasons for this is the humid climate. They are also informal when greeting you , they would use seῆor for man or seῆora for women.

Cuba's food is unique because it mixes different cultures ideas to make it their own special food.

  • 45% of Cubans are catholic
  • A interesting fact is that  Pope John Paul the Second officially visited Cuba in 1997
  • 4% are protestant
  • 2% are Santeria
  • Santeria combines the worship of traditional Yoruban deities with the worship of Roman Catholic saints.
Cultural norms
Cubans are known mainly for three things:

  1. Communism
  2. Sport (Boxing and baseball)
  3. Music
Cubans are not force by law to make music or play sport, but the people expect them to do it because of how good the are at it.

Cultural traditions
Many people may not know that Christmas was not celebrated in Cuba until the Pope visited the island and after which Christmas was restored as a holiday.  Cubans also have many festivals such as:

  • Festival del Habano
